Five years ago, Nexus Cooling supplied and installed their energy efficient Glycol Chiller for Liberation Brewery, replacing an old chilling unit that was driving up costs and failing in terms of reliability. Over the span of these five years, the 160kW chiller, paired with a 54mm diameter stainless steel insulated pipework, has effectively maintained cost-efficiency and minimised maintenance requirements.

As a member of Butcombe Brewing Co., Liberation Brewing Co. has been an integral part of Channel Island life for nearly a century and a half (150 years!). Crafting a diverse array of award-winning beers, they raise glasses in over 80 lively pubs across the Channel Islands. They also call 20 charming and one-of-a-kind pubs and bars their own, each with its own distinct vibe and a menu featuring only the finest local produce.

To ensure the highest quality and flavour of their award-winning beers, Liberation Brewery Co. must cool their Fermentation Vessels and Yeast Prop tanks to precise temperatures during the production process, as each degree matters in crafting the perfect pint.

They wanted to move away from their costly and unreliable chiller and invest in something that could accurately deliver the temperatures they needed in order to brew with ease.

Unlike the prior chiller used by Liberation Brewery Co., Nexus Cooling's chiller has encountered minimal issues, delivering substantial cost savings. Thanks to a remarkable 30-35% reduction in energy consumption and low maintenance, the overall expenses in the past 5 years have seen a substantial decline compared to previous years.

As well as this, in just 18 months following the installation of the new chiller, Liberation Brewery Co. recovered the losses incurred during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
